Costa Rica will celebrate the 203rd anniversary of its Independence this coming Sunday, September 15, a significant date for our country and Central America.
Due to its importance, this holiday is classified as a mandatory paid day off according to Costa Rican labor law.
This means that employees are entitled to a paid day of rest, allowing them to observe this national celebration throughout the country.
Will the holiday be observed on a different day this year?
No. This year, the holiday remains on its original date, and thus, must be observed on Sunday, September 15.
Proper compensation for the holiday
According to Article 148 of the Labor Code, Independence Day is a mandatory paid holiday for all employees required to work on this day.
