In Costa Rica, public holidays commemorate significant historical, religious, or cultural events and are legally established as non-working days (except as provided in Articles 150 and 151 of the Labor Code), so that workers may observe them or participate in the celebrations associated with each date.
To help you plan accordingly, below is the list of public holidays that will take place in Costa Rica during 2026, along with their type of payment, as established in Article 148 of the Labor Code.

Currently, no legal provision requires the transfer of holidays; therefore, each holiday must be observed on the day of the week it falls, even if it is a Saturday or Sunday.
Should regulations change affecting the transfer of holidays, we will update our calendar and inform you in advance.
