As of **Wednesday, December 4**, employees are entitled to **paid leave in the event of the death of a close relative**: specifically, **3 business days** for the death of a **first-degree relative** by blood or marriage and **1 business day** for the death of a **second- or third-degree relative** by blood or marriage. Since this is a new form of leave, employers must establish **internal regulations** outlining the requirements and procedures employees must follow to request it.
