At the end of last year, a reform to the Crecer Juntos Act allowed for the creation of a new complementary modality to fulfill the employer's obligation to have an Early Childhood Care Center (CAPI in Spanish) in place. Through this modality, employers can pay the average cost of CAPI services via a fee equivalent to the monthly tuition of the centers chosen by the employees for their children's care.
CONAPINA has now finally set the exact amounts that employers must provide to their employees as the average cost equivalent of a CAPI, according to the following categories:
- Enrollment: $72.70
- Monthly Fee: $151.40
These costs will be in effect until July 29, 2025.
Employers must establish the conditions of this benefit in their internal regulations, which will not interfere with salary distinctions or job positions.
While the employer will determine the modalities through which compliance with the Law will be achieved, the employees will be able to choose from the childcare options provided.
This fourth option for fulfilling the employer's obligation regarding CAPIs is a feasible way to advance and ensure quality and people-oriented early childhood care coverage in the country, as proposed by the law.
