#CostaRica 🇨🇷 #LaborAlertBDS: December 1st will be a Non-Mandatory Paid Holiday

December 1st has been declared Army Abolition Day.

This Tuesday, Costa Rica’s President Carlos Alvarado and Minister of Labor and Social Welfare Geannina Dinarte signed the law declaring “the national commemoration of December 1st as Army Abolition Day and as a non-mandatory paid holiday” (Act No. 9803).

This law amends Article 148 of the Labor Code so that said date is considered a non-mandatory paid holiday instead of October 12th, and orders the Executive Branch to arrange ceremonies all over the country to commemorate this historical milestone.

This reform will enter into force following its publication, and might become effective this year.
