#CostaRica 🇨🇷 #APriori_Reports: Prohibition on Trading and Providing Plastic Straws, Bags, and Bottles for Free

As of April 20th, a series of new regulations regarding the trade and free provision of single-use plastic products came into effect, due to the expiration of the existing transitory provisions included in the Law to Fight Plastic-Induced Pollution and Protect the Environment and its regulations.

Plastic products such as bags, bottles, and straws that fail to meet the technical requirements established in the mentioned provisions will not be allowed to be marketed and must be replaced by alternatives that contribute to the fight on single-use plastics.

Commercial establishments that fail to comply with the provisions established in the Law and its regulation will be subject to fines of up to five times the "waste management" fee, according to the rate established by the corresponding Municipality.
