#CostaRica 🇨🇷 #BDS_LaborAlert: Amendment to the CCSS Regulations on Statutory Leaves of Absence and Certified Medical Leaves Enters into Force

On Thursday, July 10, 2025, the amendment to the Regulations for the Granting of Statutory Leaves of Absence (licencias) and Certified Medical Leaves (incapacidades) of the Costa Rican Social Security Administration (CCSS) was published in the Official Gazette No. 127, thereby officially entering into force.

The amendment introduces specific changes to Article 14 of the regulations, establishing new provisions regarding the recognition, management, and documentation of statutory leaves of absence and certified medical leaves applicable to employees, while also providing legal certainty concerning the types of activities that may be carried out during such periods.

In light of this new regulatory framework, it is essential to understand the scope of the changes and to prepare for their proper implementation.

To analyze the practical application of this amendment, address frequently asked questions related to statutory leaves of absence (licencias) and certified medical leaves (incapacidades), and examine the legal and labor implications of the current provisions, our firm will be hosting a new webinar on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

You may register for the webinar here.
